I went to the Palo Alto Medical Center and saw an OB/GYN because of a situation that looked like an OB/GYN thing, but turned out to be gall bladder related. The symptoms were obvious to my GP, but this one did not even care I was in very bad pain. The doctor was extremely rude and indicated that because of my size (and I'm not very large) that because of my weight, surgery would be a requirement (cesarean). Is this true? She is of a nationality that is extremely focused on very very 'thin' women in this area. When I got home I realized that there were many comments of prejudice. We would like to get pregnant, but at this point I'm just terrified to go to the doctor, and believe she actually just hates fat people, and I felt extremely unsafe. My insurance states I must go to this department and all the OB/GYN's on the insurance in this center are filled up (i.e. if you try to make an appointment with any of them, they say they are not accepting new patients) so I got stuck with this person who I think may actually want to do harm to overweight people. Any thoughts? It's been about a year, but I need to see a doctor. Anyway, thank you for the article. I'm wondering if they have an ombudsperson or some independent 3rd party who can go under-cover and do some research so no woman has to suffer this kind of treatment again. She was also very rough with me, you could tell she did not want to work with anyone even slightly overweight.

I loved your article on lowering C-section births in larger sized women. You did a great job. Finding a good chiropractor is definitely important and I might add the website www.icpa.com to help you find a chiropractor especially trained in treating pregnant patients.
